Youth
Co-creation and collaborative design are at the heart of the LayerCake process, and it is essential to include the youth. One of our kid-friendly community engagement tools is called Predict Your Park. Participants choose the activities or programs that are most important to them and rank them on a numbered wheel, helping them to visualize what their dream park would look like.

Clients/Stakeholders
We also use participatory design tools to help our clients and stakeholders articulate their visions. Through collaborative workshops, we map sizes and locations of programs together, ensuring that we are meeting the project brief while remaining good stewards of public funds. During the construction process, we guide the client, community, and contractors through a collaborative effort.
Community
It is essential to craft places that support multi-generational and multi-functional use. Parks are where communities meet their neighbors and see the continuity of life experience. The Dot Map is a tool that helps us track how the community uses their space and what they hold sacred. Try it yourself below!
It Takes a Village
